Bondage on a Budget has a neat gimmick – there are 69 stories, arranged alphabetically around different ‘pervertables’. (Pervertable is a word I love to use, and for anyone who doesn’t know what it means, a pervertable is a tool or utensil or product that has a use, that you take and, well, pervert for kinky purposes.) Bondage on a Budget, being about kink on the cheap, is a big fan of pervertables because they’re often items you already have around the house, eg: feather dusters, aftershave, a ruler, ice.

It took me a few months to work my way through the entire book, keeping it by my bed and masturbating to it when the fancy struck. Each session I’d get through two to five stories, but I never failed to get aroused and get off on the tales being told. I read through the stories in the order they appear, but it’s certainly not obligatory! The contents page lists them all by pervertable and story title, as well as with a simple code that lets you know whether the story is lesbian, gay, hetero, solo or orgy. For myself, I read them all and loved them all (there’s some gender-fuckery in there as well, which in my mind makes it even better), but for those with more streamlined tastes, it means you can skip the settings that don’t appeal.

In addition to the stories, each between two and six pages long, some have post-scripts with useful suggestions, warnings, and hints. Very useful, especially if the story has given you an idea! There’s also a Preface and a ‘Setting the Stage’ section, the former useful for reading the book, the latter useful for putting any ideas from the book into practice. It’s an excellent notion, and very helpful with hints about location, storage, preventing accidents and so on.

But the stories! The stories are great – there wasn’t a one that I didn’t enjoy, and some that I particularly enjoyed. Olive Oil: Too Many Chefs; Dental Floss: Good Hygiene Habits; Chopsticks: A Cane Alternative; Ace Bandage: Wrapping it up in Public and Gloves: Like-Minded Couple Seeks Same all brought me gasping to orgasm – and gave me more than a few ideas that I want to have tried on me :)

While I have a shelf and a half of erotica books in the bedroom, there are a few books that live beside the bed, on the pile of orgasm towels and next to the wet-wipes. Bondage on a Budget has just become parts of an exclusive club: a book that I can open at any page, dive into, and debauch myself with.

Verdict: If you like bondage, and you like erotica, then this is one collection you need to be owning already.
